How do I know if my organisation is eligible for Microsoft Office 365 nonprofit plans?

To avail of the donated or paid Microsoft Office 365 plans, your NFP organisation must meet 5 criteria set by Microsoft. Here’s a quick rundown of this criteria:

  1. Organisation must be nonprofit and nongovernmental, and hold recognized legal charitable status as defined in their country.
  2. An eligible organisation must operate on a not-for-profit basis and its mission must benefit the local community.
  3. User licensing may only be permitted for:
    • Paid NFP staff
    • Unpaid NFP executive staff
    • Volunteers
    • Contracted NFP staff
    • Beneficiaries, members, donors
  4. Nonprofit licenses cannot be shared, transferred, rented or resold to other organisations and individuals that are not eligible for nonprofit license.
  5. An eligible organisation must not have a policy or mission that is discriminating based on race, colour, sex, national origin, religion, age, disability, gender identity or expression, marital status, pregnancy, sexual orientation, political affiliation, union membership or veteran status.
    Exception: Religious organizations that are exempt from laws that prohibit such discrimination.
